Generally all websites follow a hierarchical link structure. Just wanted to know your ideas on Breadth Vs Depth. My idea of good linking structure revolves around having good Breadth because gives you a good amount of top level pages to optimize. Are there any disadvantages for using such internal linking.

Another related topic is the amount of pages which get crawled. Does that help? My thinking is yes if you take advantage of it... From each page indexed you can ask for a reciprocal link (from others related to your field) with the condition of getting your customized anchor text. Just wanted to know ideas of fellow members.

Note :- I feel some of the most well read thinkers post in this Link Development Forum.

mil2k,

Ciml's thread here pushed some disucussions on that topic (not sure youd've seen it already): [webmasterworld.com...]

Concerning crawling: I'd say going into quite some breadth first would help.
[stanford.edu...] - slide 17 might help as well

My inkling is - as you suggest - to get external inbound links to the deeper pages helps best for crawling.

- that might make people too shy to post :)

Vitaplease,
i had read the thread [webmasterworld.com ] but still read it again. Good thread. The other url you gave, i am reading.
My reasoning for getting maximum pages crawled was because it would help me indirectly. All those pages can be very handy for carrying out your Link Popularity Campaign. Linking from links Page is Passe for me.

I thought that would encourage people to post ;-) . We need 10,000 posts by September don't we?
