I am new to this. How do I find out the popularity of sites? I want to find link partners who will generate traffic to my site. Obviously they have to be of similar content. Does it just require putting in keywords in google, etc and seeing what comes out tops? Or is there a better way?
I already have links from other sites but I don't feel i have enough big/quality links.
Your help would be appreciated.
Here is a great thread that covers link development:

It'll keep you reading for awhile ;)

I guess the best thing is the Google Toolbar [toolbar.google.com] because if a site has any PageRank (PR) at all, it has an indicator showing that sites 'backlink' popularity.
Oh, and do read thru the thread Birdman posted.

I read the post and theres lots of info on there.
I also got the google toolbar. I checked my site at it has a PR of 5. Since I didn't know what PR was, is this any good?
I have checked other sites and some which I thought would have a higher than mine were either the same or PR 4. So i guess i am on the right track.
