Did anyone read the article on link farms in Wall St Journal this week? I understand these refer to link campaigns where the links are very loosely themed or established usng software espressly to rank high on Google.I am directing a well thought out link campaign, approach each parnter individually assessing the value of their partnership but question the relative value of this effort. Is is possible that Google is no longer evaluating strength of link campaigns even if they have integrity?

The whole idea of Page Rank is premised on links. Google can't ditch the importance it places on links (good ones as Google defines them) without scrapping everything that made it successful. They might tinker with it in the future (on the fly generation within a subset of sites as has been discussed this past week), but they're going to dance with what brought them to the party.

The whole link farm concept was started in response to Google's use of link pop and (mostly) stopped when Google decided it didn't like the practice. From reading some of your posts I know you've done your research and know what to stay away from. Stay with what you plan and you should see solid results.
