HI Everyone,

I'm a newbie and not web master but directing a linking campaign. I came across a site that asks to link with them first then they will review to reciprocate.
Can I do this myself or do I need my web master?

You're the director of the campaign which makes you the boss. You decide who links to whom.

You then tell the webmaster what to upload based on your decision.

If the other site(s) fail to reciprocate you may want to consider recinding your link unless it is of greater importance to you by having that link to them.

Reciprocal linking, in my opinion is just that...reciprocal as in two-way.

australiangirl, If you are the boss, have access to the files and the skills to do things. Why not? I would go back and check though to make sure everybody lives up to their end.

I agree with rogue, but would make one suggestion... if the webmaster normally takes care of updating all the pages, adding new content, etc, you should inform him that you have updated that specific page so he does not overwrite the new file if he should upload that page again.

If you have a webmaster who will work with you you can create a list of places they should submit your site to. If you are comfortable doing it yourself you can submit it. As far as the reciprical links you need basic access to the site and setup a links page. That part you can ask your webmaster to do. There are even scripts that have administration username/passwd that only you know about and you can just put in their link without having to know html stuff. That is something you would have to ask your web person to do also.

But remember Webmasters generally arnt SEO people. So if you keep asking them to update stuff which is outside of the contract they may grow old of updating your site quickly. My two dollars.

Thank you everyone. I think I will have my web master handle this as he is also skilled atr SEO-I am a big picture thinker and business consultant hired to think out of the box. However I also agree that becomming trained in this area is a very good idea.
