Bad neighborhood links from internal page question

I manage a number of sites with a industry-link page and I'm wondering how important it is to make sure none of the outgoing links on these pages point to a 'bad neighborhood' site.

These pages are built with quality links from related industry sites but I just found (by chance) one of the links to a site with no PR. I called the company and they told me that their site was dropped by Google, probably for hidden text.

This is an important link for this particular industry and I would just as soon keep the link on this link page.

But...

What is the PR impact of having a bad neighborhood link on an internal 'links page'?

If you really want to keep the link but are worried about the pr, you could make it a JavaScript link. That way Google won't see it but everyone else will.

A java link would work in this case because I am aware of the problem; I am more concerned about a link that goes 'bad' without my knowledge.

Would you simply code all outgoing links as java? Or maybe keep the links page from being crawled with the robots.txt?

Neither! If you were to do that, noone would link to you. I would not worry too much about linking to bad neighborhoods. Just make sure the sites you link to are established, reputable sites.

You don't want to have all links in a java script. If you do then your reciprical links will be one way and fighting against yourself.

I would take a few minutes a day to check which links are going to "bad neighborhood pages", and put them in a java script.

A site with no links get frowned apon.
