Does the size of an incoming link matter? In other words if some site is placing a text link to my site is there any reason to make it bold, italic or H1?

Bold, italic, and headings would draw the eye to your link if it is included in a list of links that aren't enhanced. That would be one of the biggest advantages I can think of.

I should have stated the question this way... is there any difference in the transferred PR due to the style of the incoming link? (Maybe this is a question for a Google forum)

PR is strictly numerical, it's got nothing to do with font style, bold, etc. What's given to the receiving page in terms of Page Rank depends only on the PR of the linking page and the number of outbound links on that page.

If it's a good page being linked to and a larger font will get visitors to click on it, if they then link to that page it'll get their PR vote.

But for the question of size of link, no relevance to PR - it's purely cosmetic.

Marcia,

Thanks. That is just what I need to know.

One other question regarding the number of outbound links reducing PR vote... any guideline as to how many outbounds reduce by what amount?

No Jon, Brett has over 10K posts [webmasterworld.com], and rcjordan is edging up close to 8K.

Good question Jon_king, I've been tinkeing with this myself and found that sometimes links in bold and H tags help, not for pagerank but for term vector points. However, this isn't the case always. So maybe you can give it a shot with a few links and see how it goes? Also, do this at your own risk, but you could modify the link with external CSS so it looks normal.
