Links Manager

I recently exchanged links with a site that uses LinksManager to manage its links. I am not really familiar with this utility and I do not know what search engines like Google do (penalty) if they detect this thing.

Is it smart to avoid linking to anyone using this? Or is it a non issue?

Thanks -

I don't believe it will cause any trouble with G, but they have an annoying bot that constantly hits your site looking for the link back to them.

I have found that sites with this program often have loads of links, many off topic. This combined with the constant emails coming from the software makes me really think hard before linking. I personally don’t risk it - things always change at the SE’s.
