Links from db driven pages with high PR

does this effect the value of that link?

We have a link from a site with a PR of 8/10 and the actual page within that site linking to us has a PR of 7/10.
The problem is the url of that link pages is: domain.com/links.cfm?categoryID=6 - Do we lose a any value of that link because of the url?

I know google doesn't bother about unfriendly charactors in urls like "?" and "=" so we should be ok, right?

I would not worry too much about any losses in tool bar PR, you have a good link there thats what counts. The tool bar is only an indication of a sites (and links) value. It is not an absolute value.

The link to your site is "domain.com/links.cfm?categoryID=6".
Now links.cfm does a redirect to your site. It is an indirect link.

If /links.cfm is not in their robots.txt, google is allowed to follow the redirect, and your page will get the PR from the link.

If /links.cfm is in their robots.txt, google will probably not follow the link and you will get no PR.

Check your back links with google, if it shows up you will be getting the normal level of Pr if it's not there your getting nought.

Keep in mind, too, that assigning real PR to dynamic pages has only been happening since this summer (and I didn't get real PR for my dynamic pages until the September update). I'm not 100% sure that it's fully propogated, yet - many of my pages that ARE in the index still seem to have no real PR in the toolbar, just the standard "guess".

What this means is that if it doesn't show this month, but it's not being banned by robots.txt or the meta tags, it might show up next month - or the following, or whatever.

Dino_M , - Yeah, I did a backward link search and got zip...

The problem is, we made a bit of a mess with the content of the site. It is a travel site and several of the itenerery pages where beign driven out of a db. Google (I think)picked up that these pages were all duplicated and the site is being heavily penalised.
We corrected the problem and I went on a huge reciprocal linking drive to try and convince google that the site is quality.
WE've managed to get a few links from pages with high PR...
I guess i just gotta be patient...
