Broken Link Building

Is BLB a valid link building option going into 2018, if so will the effects be worth the effort with regards to rankings?

For what it's worth I only ever look for links that get eyes on the prize and look at it from the point of view that if google wasn't around, would I want a link from site X or Y to drive sales, but I'm thinking through other options.

Thanks

Hi rb77 and welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]
Broken link building may perhaps be the most effective, white-hat link building strategy in years.
[moz.com...]

According to Moz, it is worth the effort. However IMO it really depends on each link on its own merits and the quality of the linking page, since this seems like a time intensive endeavor.

Well, with the time intensity of it in mind I was (and haven't gotten round to looking into them properly) thinking of using either a chrome extension or maybe something from a resonably well known seo company.

I have to admit that I really like the idea of BLB as it solves 2 issues, 1 for each website owner.

I used to use the approach quite successfully when "Links" pages were common, but Links pages now belong to one of the categories I'm feeling no longer have the "merits and quality" that keyplyr rightly suggests is necessary for the link to be helpful.

Possibly, if you stumble across a broken link in a good article, it might be worth pursuing.

Time wasted. Current is what makes bucks. Move FORWARD delivers results. Weeding the back garden after havest might generate a few potatoes but will never be the crop.

OR: Spend your time where it counts. If it's broke, don't fix it. These days that's disposable trash you simply replace. Look for new and build on that.

Seriously, if it's BROKE, don't fix it.
