First Welcome to Webmasterworld Forums :) Now on to your question :
It depends on the website.
1) is it local or pure organic? 2) B2B or B2C 3) Small or Large enterprise 4) Does it have backlinks established already and if yes are they good or you need to clean up the backlink profile a bit 5) Many more factors.
Basically what you are asking is like : "Hi I am going to become engineer. Please tell me how to go to the moon" - it does not work like that.
You can submit the resort listing to the most popular directories and accommodation sellers - think booking.com tripadvisor, expedia etc. etc. If the resort is in the EU there are plenty of directories to submit your hotel listing.
Second make sure your google maps property listing is up to date with correct marker, description and details.
Rule of thumb on this type of SEO is to have all contact info the same every where you post.
Also if you do not have a Facebook Business Page and Google+ Business Page and twitter(not mandatory) make them and start posting content and inviting interested prospects (clients of the resort would be ideal)
Basically with 10-15 images and good 300 word text and proper listing submition you will have a good foundation to start ranking your resort website.
However I need to note the obvious, that you need to take care of the On-Page SEO of the website, meta descriptions, H1 and url tags - the works.
If you are unsure where to submit your resort website you can just google - and submit your property on the local relevant directories first and then move on to region or international level.
If you have no idea what I just said - you will need to check some SEO fundamentals first as I do not believe I am able to explain all the technicalities in one post(or 10)
