Here is a link to a ost that was publicly shared in Facebook. [facebook.com] It was a paraphrase from a session at SMX West 2014.

When building links, Page One Power recommends: 50% of links brand name, rest a variety of 30-40 kws/variations ‪#‎smxwest

I wasn't there so I can't comment on the veracity of that quote. But there it is. What's your opinion on assigning a percentage to anchor text?

We use the same percentage, give or take, but also factor in industry aggregate levels.

Yeah agree. Even more and the rest with longtail and very small % exact.

I feel the same way about this as I do about keyword density - it just doesn't make sense, there is no magic ratio. The main thing to focus on is avoiding money keywords. Keep it simple, keep it natural.
