all links to home page or split to internal pages?

my home page doesn't rank very well and I'm looking to gain links from a some sources.
i've heared different opinions which is better and more valuable links, all to 1 page or to inner pages?
does anyone have some information on this? please provide source.

It's about natural linking. You want your links to go to all parts of the site. I have many inner pages that have much more pr then home pages simply because they are of more use to the user. In turn those pages end up passing pr to the home and other pages. Just link relatively.
