Link from Innerpages of High Value Websites

Yesterday was a productive day. My website managed to get mentioned by a very popular PR 6 website on its latest blog post.

Now, as with most blogs, to see the link, one would have to click on the link on the homepage and reach to that article, which has no PR because it was written only yesterday.

So, what do I make of it? Having been mentioned in a PR 6 website in an innerpage which most likely will garner not more than PR1 or PR2 anytime in the future - was the exercise worth it?

Or, should I merely concentrate on getting links from PR1, PR2 websites from their homepages or sidebars which would mean a lot more IBLs..?

What you did is exactly what you should have done. This is an example of where you don't want to get caught up looking at PR.

It's my belief that in the situation you've described, the authority and relevance of the site will pass more ranking juice to your site than the PR would indicate.

In addition, I like the gut check of this kind of link. Lots of inner page, content heavy links just tastes right. It adds to the background noise of your link profile. I know that's a bit holistic :) but lots of low pr links from sidebars smells kind of unnatural to me.

I agree with Wheel.

When you're working on link development, keep your primary focus on "signals of quality" and "signals of relevance".

When you do that, PR tends to look after itself just fine.

I just got another doubt. Do orphan pages from high PR pages add value? I mean, I recently got one another link from a popular PR 5 website, but the link is not linked from anywhere else on the site and is basically an orphan. I have got it to be indexed though via other websites. Will this get the juice-value from the PR 5 site?

Is the page cached or can you find it by searching for a snippet of text that's contained within it? If so, you're ok.

Yes, I can find it on Google by searching for some specific text. So, that means I get the value of the high PR from the homepage of the website, right?

Thanks for the comment, dertyfern..
