Will this type of 301 redirect work

I have a website for example www.example.com and www.example.com/example-works.html ranks for a non-competitive keyword, which is a static html page with content (has only content and internal links) pointing to the original category page with products (www.example.com/example-works123.html), which has only products, no content with keywords.

I am planning to 301 redirect www.example.com/example-works.html to www.example.com/example-works123.html.

My question is will the rankings drop if I do that or will it not effect any of my rankings for that non-competitive phrase?

Hi,

applying 301 redirect on one url to another, never effects ranking, but be sure that you have applied rightly.
