This is driving me nuts. Is his a valid linking practice? It seems scammy to me. Most of the sites they are willing to link *to* me from are either completely unrelated-- or are filled with tons of scammy links (not a place I want my site listed).
Aren't recip links still worth something? At least then, two related sites chooose to mutually share links... instead of a scammy way of trying to get a link but make it appear like it's 1-way instead of recip.
I don't bother with 3ways because that doesn't groove with the mantra "would I do this is the search engines didnt exist?"
Could be the linkers convinced the client this is the way to go if they don't want any unsightly link pages and to conserve pagerank.
It's likely demand causing the linkers to update the old way of doing things to the new old way of doing things. As usual when a technique reaches critical mass, little events start happening here and there.
Possible the company who hired the linkers doesn't know they're 3 ways and is being told they're one way.
I think this is what's happening. One site seems like a legit company that is related to my topic, but their "seo people" or whoever they are keep submitting 3-way link requests to me, offering to link back with worthless sites. I forwarded the emails and an explanation of why I was unwilling to do this to the seo person and the company's email.
