What tools do you use for Link Building?

I'm pretty new to this whole SEO, link building business. Finding it quite interesting and extremely frustrating at the same time.

What tools do you use to keep track of your inbound / outbound links?
How do you successfully get links from relevant sites?
I've tried the asking nicely approach and get 1 reply a day max - pretty dis-heartening.

How do you organise / sort your potential link partners to contact?

Are there any free tools to help me monitor reciprocal links or is this done manually?

Hi Mike,
Probably best to keep discussions tightly focused on a topic. We generally don't discuss SEO tools here, and in the link dev forum we definitely shy away from promoting SEO Tool software.

That said, a plain vanilla google search will find dozens of software tools. Questions like this are the kinds of things you'll find honest answers for at PubCon networking events. Try to get as many people on your IM/Social Network as possible.
