what are your thoughts on 3 way link exchanges? would you use them?

However, I analyzed all these links and it appears that these webmasters are setting up trading domains (that they own) and exchanging links with webmasters.
Webmaster A - He buys 200 one ways links From Company A
Company A participates in 3 way linking where webmaster A gets links from 3 way linking program.

Sure there are people out there who can "outwit" Google, but this isn't anything, by itself, that would be in anyone's "sophisticated" tool-set of techniques.
And no, they won't come running to forums asking why, they'll know why it happened well before it actually happens and have double the sites sitting out there ready and waiting with the next thing coming down the pike that will work.
That aside (and settled), there are some perfectly valid reasons why a three-way might be a good (or better) thing, including reasons that would pass human review.
