Hi,

if a site is about cars in general and one particular article is about toyotas, then should one link to that article in particular or only to the domain name of the car site.

In other words is

<a href='http://www.example.com'>Toyota</a>

or

<a href='http://www.example.com/toyota-test-results.html'>Toyota</a>

preferable?

Which is more beneficial for the users? I would generally say that the deep link is better. Search engines like deep links for a variety of reasons, and more targeted linking tends to be better for the visiors too.

If the target page is not relevant to the topic of the link I am just as likely to go for the back button that to start exploring.
