i am offered to acquire a website that has a very good ranking in a very generic term. The website has very good quality links, on topics that are mainly historical related.

My main objective in aquiring the site is to take advantage of its excellent ranking and also to take advantage of it exceptional backlinks. Can I redirect this page and hope to keep the ranking that this site has as well as benefitting from its existing links?
thanks for help

Why not keep the site and let it enjoy it's great rankings and backlinks? You can then keep working on the other site so it too can enjoy great rankings and backlinks. You will then have TWO websites in the top ten. Theoretically you can hold four positions out of ten by keeping both sites separate.
