backlinks and bitterness

Ok, I hear the same "make quality content and people will link to you" over and over again. However my pages on my sites give the same kind of information away that my competitors SELL IN PRODUCTS! Yet they have WAY better listings and a much higher page rank than my sites. Compared to what I give on my sites, their sites are nothing but spammy useless articles to link to their products.

Now I know everyone sees their own stuff through rose colored glasses...and I assure you that I dont think my sites are perfect by any means. What I am saying is that MOST sites in my niches, who are on TOP are pure trash. PERIOD. Yet I have a page rank of 2 on my sites with tons of great content that basically gives away the golden goose for free, so much so that even if I were on top of google...I wouldnt make a dime selling anything cause people would learn everything about my niche from my free articles alone.

Ive been doing article marketing to the large article directories, and thats about it. The most insulting thing is, any article I write and submit to them, gets instantly stolen and put on other sites, with only my author link removed. So basically Im giving these thieves free content with no link for compensation. Im only submitting article to the directories, to get the links from the directories themselves! Nobody else plays by the rules at all.

Beyond wasting my time to make great sites and not see any return, I feel insulted and kicked in the teeth. I wish I was smart enough to learn how to cheat the system like my "competitors". (a term I use lightly because they most likely paid a non native english speaker $5 to write their articles)

Beyond going postal and kicking and screaming like a child on the floor with a temper tantrum. What can I do to try improve getting back links to my sites that are over 5 billion times better than anyone on page 1 of google?

Yeah I know I sound arrogant, but I truly believe that quality has NOTHING to do with your listing as Ive heard so many times I want to puke.

Someone give me a REAL answer on how to get links and page rank PLEASE! Someone out there Im sure has some crappy $5 content and a page rank of 9 and knows a thing or two about a thing or two.

my disclaimer: Im not trying to insult anyone. Please dont think that I think Im better than anyone as far as my content goes....but I know that the niches I do, my content KILLS first page results in google. I just want to know how those losers get their links and get up there in results.
