I was wondering how people track their backlinks. I use Yahoo's link domain tool but that doesn't give an indication of the number of domains linking through.
You can compensate by adding "-site:" for some of the larger sites that link through but you can't do that if you have several sites with more than one link to you.
Is it important? I'd rather know the number of domains / IP addresses linking to my sites than number of page links.
Thanks
Donal

Have you tried a sitemap.xml file? Once you have created one and submitted to Google you can see how many web sites link to each page on any number of web sites. It even gives more results than doing a search using site:.
It gives you plenty of other information about your web site as well.
Just search in Google for "Google Sitemaps". There are plenty of tools that will help you create a sitemap file automatically.
