Are links in all links and articles directories spidered?

Links from directories and article sites not showing up

I have submitted my site to many links' and articles' directories. And most of them have published my link...i mean I can see my link in directories and my articles with my links also.

But when I search Google Webmaster tools or yahoo for the incoming links to my site, I do not get those directories there.

I think all links are not spidered by SEs. Do you think the same?

Could you please mention names of few directories where link placing would be worthy?

but how do I do that?

search the page source code where rel="nofollow"?

Is there any other way?

What sort of time frame are you talking about? There seems to be a lag with backlinks in webmaster tools. It has "updates", rather than being continuously updated. It's possible that your fears will be confirmed and the links won't be spidered, but on the other hand, it may be too soon to draw conclusions.

That's probably too soon to tell.

i know 1.5 months is petty soon to worry about this....

I won't mind if in the future I found some of the directories not showing up.....but by that time at least some or many should show up.

So I was asking for few directory suggestions which you guys have had a good experience with.

And I would like to know how I can be sure if directories are using "nofollow" or not.

Thanks in advance

It's against terms of service to recommend individual websites. However a good trick is to look for directories that are in the SERPS. For example, do a search for "widget directory" or "widget submit site". Even if they're a few pages in, you know that the directory has search engine love. I also check to see if the page that my site will appear on is in the google cache. I do this using the google toolbar, but if you don't have the toolbar, you can do it with a regular search using cache:www.example.com/page-of-interest.html as your search term.
As for nofollow, just 'view source'. if REL=NOFOLLOW appears in the links, they're, well, nofollow links.
