There's a thread here [webmasterworld.com] about Google's new "Excessive reciprocal links or excessive link exchanging" guidelines.

Can anyone define the difference between Reciprocal links and Link Exchanging?

Reciprocal is probably 2-way link, and link exchanges are N-way (ie 3-way).

Don't think so.

[google.com...]

  • Link Exchange ("Reciprocal Link Exchange") is the practice of exchanging links with other websites. The simplest way of doing it is to email another website owner and ask to do a link exchange. You place their link on your site, usually on a links page and the other site in return will place a link back to you. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_exchange)

If you don't agree with Wiki, edit it...

No, it's very late here and I had a very long and hard day, drinking my well deserved pint of beer and watching the news, so I will just agree with you and go watch a movie :)

It's been revised, as per the thread already going on it where it's discussing what's been clarified.

Exchanging and reciprocal mean the same thing. The word to look for, for what to avoid is excessive.

I'll disagree with Marcia, a reciprocal link COULD be coincidental, an exchanged one not :-)
