This may be a tricky issue with similar KW links

I have an idea for building my inbound links and have come up with this idea - which also causes a concerned question to arise.

Say for example that I want to build revelant inbound links from sites that are in a competitive market.

Let's pick a market that is very competitive in the sense that you almost cannot get links from similar sites because they are competiting with you - or they will just not cooperate whatever the reason.

Lets use the example of selling "Security Cameras" - you have a site that sells "security cameras" ans this is the KW that you optimize for.

Would it be of any benefit to get inbound links from sites that are themed "Personal Security, Computer Security, Network Security, Digital Cameras, Cameras equipment..." etc.etc...?

Since they would not easily get a link from a competitor, they would more easily get a link from a "Digital Camera" site or a "Personal Security" site - thinking that eventhough the site isnt 100% revelant, that this type of inbound link would hold more value over a site that would be themed "Car Wash equipment" or " Lawnmower parts" because part of the site is centered around part of the KW.

Do you know what I mean?

The closer to the theme - the better.
But computer security (against hackers) is not too related to security cameras.
