About how much time is enough already..?!?!?

Ive about had it up to here with these Jokers!!!!!!

So here I am looking at my Links page, and I am really starting to feel like I am totally getting Jacked round with some of these Jokers whom ( SO I THOUGHT ) given them a link to my site in good faith thinking that THEY would return the Gesture as prescribed on their Links Page that always goes something like THIS --->>>
( We will be happy to exchange links ) with your site, but first you must provide a link to us(them), and once your link has been verified then we(they) will give a link to you (you all know story)... Problem is, allot (if not most) of the time THEY NEVER DO.:o..!!!! So here it stands...In good faith I have provided a link to THEM but NOTHING in return..! Allot of the time I never hear from them...!!! So now I am looking at my links page, I have all these links that I have given out..! So now they go "onto my Hot list",I send them a polite letter reminding them that I have provided them a link from my site to theirs, give them my details (AGAIN), and ask them to please return the favor, and at the same time I also include a short postscript at the bottom that says --->>> "please send confirmation notice so we may take you off our pending links list"..!!! And you know what.? STILL I get NO response..:o.!!! So then I wait several days for some sort of reply, and STILL Nothing..:o.!!! So now all of you are probly wondering WHY, WHY aren't they giving Village Idiot a link back in return.??? And no it is Not because of a low Quality site, its not that either, our Site is of good quality and content etc. etc..!!! I would rather guess the Problem to be that either they are trying to Scam me, never see it, don't check it,.... Or Perhaps THEY are just PLAIN LAZY..:o.!!! Or better yet "Expect Something For Nothing"...:o...!!!!!!!! It really pisses me off knowing that there are STILL a few of us out there who spends all this Enormous Time and Energy with good faith, giving out to someone who NEVER gives anything back in return (Especially when they tell you they will)..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now that you all know my Bitch of the day here's the 64,000 Dollar Question.??? HOW or WHAT is the BEST way to handle such predicaments..? I've sent them 2 very polite follow up notices now, approx. 5 days apart asking them to please Reply etc. etc..! WHATS NEXT..????? How much longer should I give them before I give `em the Shank (Yank Their Link )..?!?!?

You know trying to attain these links are difficult enough as it is, let alone going round having to play Patty Cake....with some of these AAAAA.....asparagus holes out there..:o.!!!!!!

Anyone Shed some light on THIS..??? How have others Dealt with this similar situation..???

This is an ongoing problem, VillageIdiot. Sometimes people are greedy jerks who have no intention of ever linking, but, more often, they get busy on another project and messy link maintenance details don't get done. (I've got a site right now that has 300+ link requests pending - I'm working through them, but I'm sure it's frustrating to those hoping for a link.)

My advice, having been on both sides of this issue: First, send a nice e-mail pointing out that they promised a link, but you haven't seen it yet... would they kindly follow through.

After a couple of weeks, I'd hit them with a more stern e-mail, suggesting that if they don't eithe reply or fix your link, their link will be deleted. After a couple more weeks, I'd either send a FINAL NOTICE e-mail or just delete the link. It's almost like collecting a bill - start off polite, but eventually let the other guy know you mean business.

If the link is particularly valuable, e.g., a PR 8 site, you might want to try a telephone contact or some other means. If it's not important, whack it and move on.

Remove their link if they do not add a reciprocal link within 30 days.

Send them a notice when you first put up their link, letting them know that their link will be on temporary status for 30 days, and will be moved to permanaent status as soon as they provide a reciprocal link.

Send out these notices on the first of every month, make a note of who you sent them to, and on the last day of the month, delete everyone who hasn't linked back.

Has anyone come across a good reciprocal link checker program (one that checks to see that links are still in place on reciprocating sites?).

This would be great so as not to have to do it manually. We've been testing a few that we've found but just thought I'd see if anyone knew of any others.
