I have a content site on a specific medical health niche and I was wondering what is the value of inbound links that are Paid Directory submissions to a specific Health Directory?
They claim that for a fee, they will list my site on 20 different relevant Health directories. I've checked those out, and they are all either PR3 or PR4 directories. I would hope I'd get some targeted traffic from these.
Also, I have only 4 inbound links and they are all PR5's. Is it better to have 30 inbound links (directories included) with a PR average of 3 or to have only 5 or 6 inbound links with a PR5 or 6?
A link from a quality directory will help you with Google - AND get you referrals. A 'link directory' or similar apology will do you no good either way.
PR has always been an unrliable way to judge any site; with directories, it's useless. And looking at the front page with a PR=4 does not mean the deep page - where your site will appear - has a similar score.
If the directory looks well managed, and the category has sites you are happy to rub shoulders with - then you are halfway there.
But be fussy. Your site will thank you later :)
