I've the following question:

Suppose I exchange a reciprocal link with webiste A and with website B and those two websites are interlinked and are designed by the same person and share the same IP-address, can this hurt your SERPS in anyway?

Thx.

Yes.

There's been many hundreds of discussions on this, and there's one active at the moment. search for link farms, three way linking, and reciprocal links; they should give you some idea of the issues.

In general, if you link to benefit your visitors, you'll probably do all right. If you are linking for search engine spiders, you likely will live to regret it. But it is a tad more complicated than that ;)

Well said Quadrille.

Keep any reciprocal exchanges down to a bare minimum, and only link to high quality websites that themselves take the same kind of pride in their partners and have only a handful.

A link is a trusted vote. Do you know 400 people you can trust with your house keys? :P
