Tags pages have to be the spammiest looking things in the universe, but the simple fact of the matter is that they have huge PR and they gained their PR by getting links from other tags pages. I'm incredibly tempted to get linked myself, but I'm a bit frightened of the overall spamtastic feel of the sites. Anyone have any advice on the subject?

I'll admit to running a tag page currently and even I struggle with the spammy nature of the pages.

Although I've been trying to do a lot of development to separate my page from the rest and give it more of a human-edited directory feel. I love the idea behind a tag page but right now I hate the execution.

If anyone has any suggestions of ways to enhance a tag page please please let me know.

I never thought I'd be diagreeing with Brett! :)

Sorry to bring up the old "if everyone else was jumping off a cliff, woudl you do it too?" cliche... As people have pointed out, it looks (and in my opinion, IS) spammy. Yes, many of those sites have great PR today, but what about tomorrow when Google hits them all with a spammy tags penalty? I'm actually surprised that Google has let things go as long as they have.
