Blogging to get links!

I've made a blog on my site. Now what do I do?

I've built a blog on my site. At the moment it's an island - that is - it's not linked to my home page...yet.

I hear Blogging is a great way to cross link to deeper pages within my site and to attract links. What should i do and what shouldnt I do?

Whats the next steps I should take to ensure I'm marketing it to it's full potential.

All ideas welcome!
