Link-Building Content for Retail Sites

What content have retail sites used to attract links?

Webmaster sites can offer online tools to attract links, and many informational sites publish articles, but what kinds of content have retail sites used to attract more links?

Aside from adding new and unique (or even exclusive) products, I have seen product reviews (by retailers and customers), online product manuals, contests, blogs, forums, and customer-submitted photos taken with items purchased from the retailer. All of these attract links. What else are retail sites offering?

That's an effective one, thanks, but I'm wondering what new trends or ideas retail sites are experimenting with to attract links.

If you're a leader in the space or offer a unique selling proposition you will over time pick up some high quality links.
Shorter term:
Give away product to people who blog in your space.
Post in-depth reviews of just released products.
Break news about something in your industry and see if you can get it picked up by Social Media sites.
