Google Back Link

My competitor has a backlink from Google. What is this worth?

My major competitor has a site that is roughly six years old and has so OK links, from from their SEO company, and, one or two from GOOGLE it'self. Which I presume are from the Google directory. Now these links are on zero PR pages. Whilst these links obviously do that site no harm, how do we quantify the the real impact it is having on my competitors website for SERPS.

As far as I know, the google directory contains only data from dmoz.org, which is open - and alongside with yahoo probably the only directory that is really useful.

If your sites are not listed in these two directories, try to get listed. In my experience, directories otherwise make sense only if they are specific for a certain subject.

Good luck!
