cgi scripts that produce link databases

I have been looking at a cgi script that allows a site to Dynamically accept a link and then produce a link page. they say that the script is fully Customisable and link catorgorys can be kept on topic.
my question is does this help or hinder a site as far as link pop goes.

I personally wouldn't be happy with losing any control over what links appear on my sites, I think it is important to stay focused.

Hi Tom and welcome to the forum

I must agree with NFFC. If you do not have control over the links, they will appear in a random order. This way your links will be less usable then if you order them according to subject.
Pages must be usable to count. This goes for link pages, doorway pages, hallway pages, content pages and all other pages.
A good linkpage with usefull links that compliment your own content will benifite your site.
A random link collection will not

Tom, I'd worry about getting spammed, too. Even if you could get 90% of the linkees to properly categorize their submission, my guess is you'll get spammers promoting get-rich-quick schemes, etc. On one site I manage, I just had an idiot spam multiple categories in the site's forum with ads, and then submit a link request!

I'd recommend using a system that requires an approval step - that way, you can delete spam and confirm that the category is correct. Also, if you are trying to create reciprocal links, be sure to include a Link URL form field so the user can tell you where the link to your site can be found. You could even make the latter a required field in the form.

Thanks for all your in put.I have been looking at quite a lot of link page options and bearing in mind the utmost importance of getting any links campaign absolutely bang on target, I have now come to the conclusion that a good link building exercise can only bear fruit with the se,s if tightly controlled, so maybe it's stick with the spreadsheet and good old html based link pages.
