I have a domain like www.widgetworld.com, and most people would naturally link to it as 'widgetworld'. Assuming I want to rank for 'widget', not for 'world', would it be better for SE ranking (mainly in google) to have the inbound link anchor text as 'widget world' instead of 'widgetworld'?

I wasn't sure where to post this, here or in a google forum. Hope this is ok.

Given the choice, I'd probably take widget world - but I wouldn't be adverse to either (or a good mix of both).

If your site is 'widgetworld.com', then in your emails refer to it as 'Widget World'.com and see if that helps.

I have a domain that is term1term2.com. I wanted the link text to be term2 term3. So my link request emails go out with my site name as 'term1 term2 term3' which looks natural because term1term2 is the domain, and term2term3 is the content. And I get a lot of people linking to me with term1 term2 term3.

Over time you will get plenty of widgetworld, whereas widget world will be less common - to rank for widget and forget about world, I'd rather go for "widget world".

Don't worry too much about it, though, in my experience it doesn't make much of a difference (had a similar domain issue).
