Does blogging helps in link building?

I am looking for some tips in link building through blogging. Let me put it this way. An seo suggested me that blogging can be effective mean for link building. I am blogging in a blog with pr 5. but still i dont see the links indexed by google, even after being a blogger blog that google spider updates instantly. Is there something missing.
Looking for some lessoons / tips

In my experience it will show maybe less than 10% of all the links you have.

To have a more accurate link count, use yahoo site explorer.

It is quite simple actually: google will show you only a part of all the links it has indexed going to your site, so looking for inbound links with google is one of the least accurate methods around.

Using yahoo or another IBL tool will give you more precise results to find out all the IBL's you have.

I'm not saying google does not have your blog links in their system, just saying they won't show them to you.

fourchette, you mean the text links I have posted on the blog will be considered backlinks for the website it goes to and will also improve on the ranking.

I don,t know if the links will help, maybe, maybe not..

What I said is just that you can,t rely on google to check out backlinks to your site! Because they only show a small percentage of the links thay actually know about.

As for the usefulness of your blog links, I don,t know if they will help, sorry.
