Outsourced link development, shocked by results

I outsourced a link development project on rentacoder.com

I had a long list of requirements and the coder agreed to all of them. I repeated many times that I am interested in links from the subject relevant sites only, and it seemed to me that the coder perfectly understands that.

Now after the guy has completed the work, I ended up with a lot of incoming links from casino directories, doubtful link exchange websites, FFAs with 300 outgoing links per page, etc. The only relief is that all the links are one-way, i.e. at least I am not linking to any of those sites.

The questions is: Can my rankings be damaged in any way by those links? I think the common understanding is that incoming links can not harm you, 'cause you have no control over them ...

The other, more general question, is how do you find a good coder/company to outsource a link development campaign. Any advice is appreciated.

it should not hurt you.

as for outsourcing...
isnt it cheaper to hire a student to buy links from cool sites for you?

Sugarrae posted a good primer recently on outsouring link development.. check out her website for that.

You get what you pay for when you outsource link development.. in my opinion, link development is best left to an expert who is very familiar with your product or service. Or simply do it yourself with editor based link management software.

Don't be so relieved. You could very likely be involved in a three way linking scheme.

I think that is the sort of what I have done. Not sure he was a student, but it doesn't matter.

and what are the chances to find one?

what is "editor based" link management software?

I hope I am not. I don't have many outgoing links on my site, and those I have are to very reputable sites that would (hopefully) not be linking to this casino/FFA junk.

Yeah, that's the whole point of 3-way link schemes. You can be involved with it and not even know.
