target blank

affect on link

Does putting target blank after a link stop search engines seeing the link as an incoming link? Also I have a site (Site 1) which I can provide a oneway link to another of my sites (Site 2). If I put a link on every page of Site 1 to Site 2 is it of any benefit with the search engines?

As far as I'm aware, linking using target="_blank" makes no difference to search engines, but every engine is different. I know that Google doesn't mind it, I know lots of site that link to stuff I have worked on using target="_blank" and they are list in the google link: for the domain they have linked to.

To the second part of your question, I think some search engine will mark the value of the link down for having the same link on every single page. Also, if the page you are linking to has no revelence to the page it is coming from, then that is going to reduce the impact as well.
