What to validate when doing link validation?

Hi Everyone,

Thanks if anyone can help me in link swapping. I am doing link swapping for my website. I am new in this and wanted to know what should I validate when link to other sites. I understand from online information that we can check the Page Rank of the linking sites, the backlinks and the theme of the site.

What else I can take care when linking to others?

My suggestion would be to spend some time reading the link forum at [webmasterworld.com...]
