If I write a top ten list that I think is link-worthy, what's the best way to get the word out on the list without violating forum ettiquite, making people angry with solicitations, or the like?

Email your closest associates, and ask them to take a look at it. If they think it's link worthy, they'll link to it. You could go so far as to ask them to submit it to Digg, Netscape, or any other social site.

Look for similar blog posts, and contribute in the comments. Go to forums that permit link dropping, and drop the link.

Tread lightly and you should be able to avoid upsetting your peers while furthering your objective.

Make it clear on your own Web site that you want links. You could ask for them directly and make it easy for people to link to you by writing the linking code for them.

Explain why it will help for the visitor to link to you: "If you've found this site useful, please link to us so that others can benefit".
