How Long For Links To Show On Search Engines?

Is it weeks or months?

Hi guys

I run a site in a very competitive sector - dating. Over the last few weeks I've made great efforts to generate inbound (only) links from articles, directories etc.

When I check to see if Yahoo, MSN etc have picked up these links, they don't seem to be registering yet. How long does this process generally take?

I'd be interested to hear about other members' experiences of getting their links picked up by the main engines.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi Jonny,

Google crawls my links page once a month. This is what i defined in Google Sitemaps. So if you were a link partner
of mine then it wouldn't take more than a month for Google to pick up this link.

First the linking page has to be crawled and that depends on how often google or Yahoo checks the site, then for it to show up in Google or Yahoo, et. al, that depends on when they update their backlinks and they stop gathering links a few weeks before the update.

According to one site that keeps a record on backlink updates it should be imminent. Count back maybe a month and if you had your links up by then maybe the'll be in the next update--but whether they will show up in Google's link report is another guess. Last I heard Yahoo was a lot slower with it's backlink updates.

Google links never show up, and not just for me.
If you use one of those programmes to check links on
different search engines, ms and yahoo show after a few days. Google, they never seem to show up at all.
They appear for a day or two and disappear. I have thousands of links for a 2 month old site, and you guessed it no google links.
I am not sure but I believe google do something called a BL backlink export roughly once a month,
but mine has been on vacation.

a quality directory should get your listings spidered in a matter of days. a good check to see if you have been grabbed is to cut the title and description from the listing you received. plug it into your engine of choice, and search.

while the listing may not show in a backlink check, if it shows in the above type search, it has been grabbed.

Nobody involved in seo uses google to look at bl's - haven't for years. For a clearer picture, loot at msn or Y!. Keep in mind that what google shows as links has nothing to do with what they are COUNTING as links to your pages.

Hi, everyone.... I am new here...
talking about : search engine indexed
experience from me
there are several ways to have google indexed
1. you may submit your URL to google, but google has more 21+ server to run... so this maight take a month or longer...who knows!
2. you better have you post links on your already google indexed page... by this way maybe faster and get more chances to let you links on search engine indexed more stable.
3. you may call it link exchange....if link more then you get indexed faster..it takes about 21 days or less
There are many link exchange program .... <snip>

I hope my experience can be helpful...

I will share my two experiences:

i. I have a blog and try to post there on a frequent basis .. may be thrice a week. Amazingly my blog is cached on every alternate day. And when I first created this blog big G used to crawl every 24 (23 sometimes) hours. This countinued till the Jagger update and I found my PR up to 5. I dont have any explanation to this. May be big G loves crawling my blog ;)

ii. The site I work for is also updated on a frequent basis though the site is well placed in all the major search engines. We have our forums too and around 30 - 40 new posts are made every day. The site is indexed every 12-14 days by big G.

From both the cases I may conclude google loves 'fresh content'.

RULE: More the updation .. more the crawling!

If I am wrong please rectify me.
