The company I work for has set aside a certain dollar amount for advertising. I want to use a portion of that for buying some links, like on blogs.

How do you find blogs that worth anything? Is getting links from blogger, efx2, or any other major service worth it?

And how much money should I expect a link to cost?

I dont know of any blogs that will give you a link for $. Most people who run blogs like us are constantly combatting irrelevant comment posts from people trying to get links that are irrelevant and don't benefit the end user. Most blog softwares utilize no follow so unless the link benefits the end user, what benefit does it serve your client?

Instead of looking to buy links, have you considered having your client produce a high quality site that webmasters will naturally want to link to? Many webmasters won't link without a link back so you might also consider reciprocal linking which is relatively low cost and perfectly acceptable when conducted with the benefit for the end user.

I already have a recip campain. Also currently doing promotional give-aways on other related forums/websites. Plus directory submissions, outright paid advertising on sites, and moving forward with print and tv advertising.

The only thing we haven't done yet is get into the top 10 on google, which appears to be link and content driven (duh).

I've taken careful steps and handcrafted each page of the site, and made it as unique as possible, plus I have other content that isn't offered by my competitors. More content coming soon.

So the last thing is finding quality links. I'll pay for 'em... won't bother me in the least. However I will still review the site for to make sure it's directly related to my niche, total content at the site, blah blah blah.

Do myspace links work/help? I haven't spent much time on myspace so I don't even know if you can make a link there that can be followed....

Easiest way to check if links on a page can be followed by search engine is touse FireFox as your browser and download the Search Status extension. It turns nofollow links PINK. It also lets you see alexa rank, back links of a page... all sorts of useful stuff.

Already have it.

Been having issues with it lately so I'm not sure exactly how much of the options work.
