everyone is saying if you get links too fast = lower in SERPs
can anyone give any guidance as to how to hit the middle ground?
the site is non-commercial, with unique, rare and presently valuable content. i do not intend to buy any links or do anything subversive. but i do want to get off the ground and i will promote it actively - articles, blogs, relevant sites, approaching relevant parties. I expect a healthy interest in my content and i expect a rather fast organic link growth, including from high PR sites.
i want to get it up asap, using legitimate ways. am i right in understanding that even legitimate ways can be seen as spam when its a new site? how do i keep from getting myself in trouble? one thing i dont wanna do is lose time by being over-cautious and doing 10 links a month.
does anyone know any details about this? approximation on how many is too many? should i avoid high PR pages for now? anythign else?
I agree. But I also think that there are correlating factors to your link numbers that can prevent you from hitting any filters in spite of fast link growth.

No. Why would you do that? :) </quote>
i read somewhere that if it is an obviously new site and it suddenly gets a high PR link, google assumes it is not organic. so i was thinking perhaps i should just do pr2-3 until the next update and then use my higher PR leads, to be safe? naturally, id rather just do it now...
