Before i joined here i submitted to every free directory i could (300?) i don't know if i should have now but that can't be undone. My next move was going to be like any other newbie seo article submission and reciprocal linking. Then introduce webmasterworld and now i'm stuck!
I got linksmanager to manage a links directory (good or bad move?) and was planning to link like it was 1999! I was going to attempt to trade links with sites within my niche that were DMOZ listed. Now i read that these link directories are dead and good content to attract one way links is key but if i search for my top keyword everyone of my competitors within the first 20 or so results has one!
I also heard that using automated software can damage you too but one of my competitors is using linksmanager and is doing very well. I know that the one-way links are king but if all of my competitors are doing it, including the no.1 results who has about a million reciprocals from off topic sites, then how do i catch up the correct way?
Also i read that you should try to contain your outward links within content. If i do this and sites linking to me don't then aren't i just helping them and getting nothing in return if their links directory carries no weight in the SEs of today?
