Can a "Hair Style" website ask link from a "Hair Loss" website?

What do you call relevant links actually?

Hi there

I was just about to start a link development campaign for my Content Website related to "Hair Styles". Can I get links from websiites related to "Hair Loss"?

Well, People who deal in "Hair Loss" - who dont deal much in "Hair Styles" will be more interested to link to me. Wont they?

While a person who TOPS on the term "Hair Styles" will be a bit relectant to link me from the anchor text "Hair Style". He wont like to promote his own competition. right?

Thanks
Ricky

You both have a common keyword and thats "hair".

Your site is full of hair and his site is full of hair.

I think it's enough for Google to decide that your sites are strongly related to each other.

You deal with Hair loss.Do you think a hair styler is your competitor? I don't.

Not if his site is about hair loss <bg>

But seriously, yes I should say they are related. Both refer to hair. And even more specifically cranial hair in humans (not to hair shirts for example which should be less relevant).

>>>Your site is full of hair and his site is full of hair.

his site wouldn't be full of hair though, LOL!

sorry about that, i couldn't resist.

...

hair loss and hair styles are related themes but different, it's up to the algos to decide if they are themed or not (if the algos are even that sophisticated)
they get tweeked all the time.

but you're allowed links to whoever you want, it's your site.

One of the BASIC REASON for Linking to other website is
- "My Website cant contain all the information about HAIRS, I deal only in HAIR STYLES and ABC.com is the website that Deals in HAIR LOSS. So if you are interested in HAIR LOSS, You can goto ABC.com"

Now if Google doesnt detects that Hair Loss is related to Hair Style (as all is HAIRY in here: LOL) then I guess Google is making a big mistake.

Suppose I start a website on a topic on which no other website was ever developed - If the theory is like "If I am HAIR STYLE website, I can Get link from HAIR STYLE website only" Then google will never give my NEW TOPIC website that importance that Topic deserves.

What I guess is, Google applies intelligence to detect which websites can cast vote (provide link) to an another website - remaining the link as RELEVANT.

Any Critics?

Google boasts to be using "sophisticated text matching techniques".This is what i understand really happens :

Google talking to himself:

"oh, this site has the word "hair" 1000 times. The other site has the word "hair" 1300 times.Mmmmm...and the two sites are linked to each other...This is a very good link...It is relevant and related...I will therefore award this link with 10 points!"

Just my narrow personal understanding.

Does it matter?

If you create a web site on a subject no one else has ever done, your site will be the only result returned for relevant search terms (unique to the unique topic), and as such the dubious merits of Google's page rank fade into even less significance.

If you think of it from a visitor standpoint instead of Google per se, you can never go wrong.

Would a person searching for hair styles also want / need info on hair loss? Sure, that's a definite possiblilty. And how about the other way around?

Sure, it would make sense that someone suffering from hair loss may want information on hair styles.

I can answer this one with certainty. My top site is one of the first ones you'll see returned at all major engines for the search phrase hair styles. Some of my best link partners are in the hair loss business. I don't mind telling you because I've had a big head start on you and I don't think you'll overtake that particular site in the SERPs anytime soon. I think hair loss links to a hair styles site do help. Far as I can tell.

How about asking for links from "wig makers"? :)

Dont worry Swebbie, I am not going to compete against you. That was just a example. If you say, I will change the example for you :)

You said that some of the BIGGEST of your LINK PARTNERS exists in HAIR LOSS Industry. Do they target Hair Style also? And why you said them as "BIG Link Partners?"

I am also near the top of the hair loss industry.

And of course, I would certainly ask a hair style orientated company to share links, as they and I would provide good resources for our visitors :) Would even go as far as trade articles, for those webmasters up on that game.
