Outbound Links

Are they absolutely necessary?

Hi Guys

We're very active in the dating sector and on our existing sites, we have a page of outbound reciprocal links. These recips probably account for about 10% of all our inbound ones. We're in the process of launching a new site and are questioning the necessity of having any reciprocals at all. We submit to directories, write articles etc and our link building strategy is pretty strong in terms of generating links to ourselves. Do we need to bother swapping?

All comments gratefully received.

It's never a bad idea to have a page where you can place a link to another website. When contacting owners about a link (pay, rent, exchange, etc) sometimes all it takes to get a big time relevant / authorative site to link to you is by simply placing a link from your websites to theirs.

Thanks,
David
