hi,

while running an affiliate program we noticed that we could get some ggod number of links. by creating html banners we realised this number could double. To clarify further copy of the banner would carry links in them.....

Any suggestions. Has anyone tried it before and what what have been the results. Do you guys think it would be a help for SEO and link building....

Speaking strictly as an affiliate - how would this benefit *me*?

It would help, but it's easy to defeat by sticking it into a JS file.

sugarrae : Html banners, have given us good number of clicks and above all registerations. A user on an affiliates site by using different search terms can reach exactly where he wishes to go instead of reaching just the home page every time he clicks on a normal gif etc banner.

thanks in advance.

To defeat the banners all I have to do is place your link and banner image information into a banner rotation script. Search engines won't see it because they won't credit you for a JavaScript generated link. That means no donut for you. ;)

Till the time the affilate is just copy pasting the adcode provided by us I don't see any issues but if the affiliate runs the same on his adserver or something like that then it might not work for SEO. but neways as stated above html banners with search options etc do give us good results in terms of affiliate performance.

Still no good for anchor as the affiliate ID would be domain.com?cid=30. The only way would be if you added a second link in the banner. Not impossible i guess.

or 301 the affiliate link to your promoted landing page and set up a cookie on user's PC :)
