http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:External_links

I have hundreds of photo galleries of places. The main draw of my website would be all the photos. I have no desire to hand over any photos to wikipedia so they can be copied to wikiclones with no regard for copyright.

I have considered placing links to these photo pages on wikipedia. I have no ads on these pages, just thumbnail galleries. If I decide to add these links i'm not going to do one or two a day. I will do it all at once. My concern is that they will see hundreds of links to a website appear in a day and delete them all. They also want me to contribute to their site before adding external links, but all I have is photos.

I would simply add an external link that says "Photos of [subject]" which would take the person directly to a thumbnail page of photos on that subject. Anyone have any experience with this type of situation? Should I not even bother?

if you do it on different topic pages it will work, because they have different editors and won't notice that you are adding many links

don't do it all at once either

maybe once a week or so?

and if you can add links from different IP addresses that is helpful too, because your IP address becomes your identity on wiki

i did it once (my first time) and put it on like 30 pages covered by a couple of editors who immediately took down all my links

since then i've managed to get 3 good links up on 3 high-traffic wiki pages and they've been there ever since

I have images on some Wikipedia pages. One thing I noticed is the photo credits page are zero PR, not that I think PR means too much but I just wonder if theses pages are spidered.

The other thing I have now noticed is all my photos I put up around a year ago are pencilled in for deletion with the following message:

"This image is not licensed under the GFDL. It is under a non-commercial-use only licence.
If this image was uploaded after May 19, 2005, it will soon be deleted without further warning.

Older images with this template will be considered for deletion."

Any idea what that's about and how do I put images on Wikipedia and state clearly they can be used if a credited with a link?
