Building Popularity to Ecommerce site.

I am promoting a ecommerce website (NORMALLY i work with Content based sites). So my first line of business has been building links. I have submitted manually to over 100 directories and I am working on one-way links to sites of similar topics. The recip links I will use will also be of the same topic with achor text used correctly for terms I am targetting. WHAT IS next step and what am I missing?

If you lucky, you will achieve 10% conversion. The whole process takes time. You might need to search for more directories and I would advise submitting a press release or two.
