drop down menu

does it works the same as text link?

Hi to all ,as my first post in your great forum ,I would like to ask you if a drop down menu has the same benefits such as a text link menu,i.e.
1 will it be crawled by the engines?
2 the drop down description text "blue widgets 1 ,2, ,3 ech.." will work as good as anchor text?
Any advise will be very appreciated.

It depends on the drop down menu specifications. For example, if it's javascript it will probably not get crawled by the search engines.

Before you choose a menu, I advice you to check a website that uses it and see whether it's fully indexed by the search engines. If it is, then using such a drop down menu will give you many benefits.

If the menu is indexed then the description will work as a great anchor text for sure.
