What % do you spend on buying links?

I am going to start buying some links on high PR and highly visited sites. I was wondering, in general, how much do you guys spend out of your budget or profit per month on buying links as part of your marketing account. I was thinking about spending around 2-6%, possibly more. I’d like to hear suggestions as I've never purchased before.

Thanks!

I don't have a specific budget or %'age. If the link makes sense at the price, I'll buy it. If it's a few bucks, I'll buy it just for another link. If it's a few hundred $'s for the link, it has to be either Yahoo!'s directory, or a site that is going to send profitable traffic on it's own (and I'm doubtful about the Yahoo directory). If I could find another 10 sites that were going to send me traffic I can convert, I'd buy it regardless of the % of revenue they cost.

In short, I suggest you don't set a budget. Instead look at each individual link. If you can get it for free, do so. If it costs $500, then make sure it is going to bring you $500 worth of business, otherwise don't buy it.
