I'm just curious. If a site gets a lot of traffic by, let's say, having every computer in the company set the web site as a home page, will that help the web site to have a higher PR? or if not, will that help in any way?

No.

PR - Page Rank - is calculated based on the number and value of incoming links from other websites.

I should mention that, if you care about it at all, you can boost your Alexa traffic ranking by doing as you propose as long as all those computers have the Alexa toolbar installed.

NB: Increasing Alexa traffic ranking is not to say it will increase your position in their search results. It's pretty much just bragging rights on traffic - but remember, if you can manipulate your ranking this easily, so can the next guy.

Thank you for your input.

So there's no benefit doing this? (setting company's web site as homepage)

There is one benefit: if your site is down your co-workers will tell you ...
